Two or more partners form a firm by signing a contract to share profits, losses, and responsibilities, making it a legally recognized business. Beyond fulfilling legal requirements, firm registration offers three key advantages:
Operational legitimacy
Financial security
Legal protection
Firstly, submit all required documents to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Industries & Commerce (the Registrar of Firms). Upon registration, your firm gains:
Legal authorization to conduct business
Furthermore, eligibility for loans and financial services
Moreover, capacity to enter binding contracts
In addition, access to commercial benefits
Moreover, registration strengthens business transparency while boosting credibility with clients and financial institutions. Most importantly, it protects all stakeholders’ interests. Below is your step-by-step guide to registration.

ToggleStep-by-Step Registration Process
1. Submit Form A
Firstly, complete and sign Form A—your main registration application. This document must include:
Your firm’s proposed name and address
In addition, provide full partner details
Also, specify the business duration
Finally, include signatures from partners and witnesses
2. Prepare the Partnership Deed
Secondly, draft your Partnership Deed in English on Rs. 500 stamp paper and ensure:
All partners sign before two witnesses
A Notary Public attests the deed
The execution date matches the stamp paper date
You submit a re-attested copy
3. National Identity Cards:
Thirdly, all partners and witnesses involved in the firm registration must submit valid National Identity Cards (NICs) for verification purposes. This critical step ensures proper identification and legal compliance.
Key Requirements:
Applicants must submit their original National Identity Cards for verification.Â
They must also provide clear photocopies of both sides of each CNIC.
All copies must be legible and include the Computerized National Identuty Card number
All partners must provide valid, unexpired ID Cards.
Submission Process:
Partners must submit copies of their NICs along with:
Signed Partnership Deed
Completed Form A application
Witnesses who attested the documents must also provide NIC copies
All NIC copies should be self-attested (signed by the holder)
This verification process helps establish the legal identity of all parties involved in the firm’s formation and prevents fraudulent registrations.
4. Treasury Challan: Business registration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Furthermore, to complete your firm registration, you must pay the required government fee through an official treasury challan. Here are the key details:
Payment Requirements:
The required amount is Rs. 5,000 (non-refundable)
Next, payments must be made at designated bank branches.
Specifically, only State Bank of Pakistan or National Bank of Pakistan branches are authorized.
Finally, always use the challan code: ‘CO3545-Registration of Firms & Societies (Provincial)’.
Important Notes:
Obtain the official challan form from the bank
Clearly mention the exact challan code to ensure proper credit
Additionally, keep multiple copies of the paid challan for your records
The payment receipt must be attached to your registration documents
The treasury challan serves as official proof of payment to the provincial government and is mandatory for processing your firm registration application.
5. Affidavit:
Partners must prepare an affidavit on stamp paper. This document must confirm that no identical firm exists in the registry. The affidavit should include the following affirmations:
a) You need to confirm that the firm name and addresses are original and are not copied from any other firm.
b) Similarly, it is also necessary that partners are the rightful owners of the proposed firm.
c) Besides, affirm that there are no pending civil or criminal cases against the partners or the proposed firm.
d) Likewise, all the documents submitted to the registrar’s officer are in good faith.
e) Finally, acknowledge that partners, and not the registrar of the firm, will be responsible in all government departments and courts of Pakistan. The affidavit must be signed by partners and witnesses and attested by a Notary Public.
6. Copy of License of Notary Public: Registrar of Firms KP
Also, for document attestation:
You must have all registration documents notarized by a licensed Notary Public
Then, you should obtain a clear copy of the notary’s valid license
Please ensure that license is current and renewable
Key points to remember:
The registrar will reject documents if the notary’s license is expired
Always check the license validity before attestation
Keep copies of both documents and notary license
This verification ensures your documents meet legal standards and prevents processing delays.
Tip: Confirm the notary’s license status beforehand to avoid re-submission.
7. E-Sahulat Biometric Verification:
Now, before proceeding with the online firm registration, all partners must complete an important identity verification step. The government requires each partner to undergo biometric verification of their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) through the E-Sahulat system.
Here’s what you need to know about this crucial step:
First, partners should visit any authorized E-Sahulat center with their original CNIC. These centers are widely available across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, typically located in NADRA offices or designated franchise locations. During the visit, the E-Sahulat operator will scan each partner’s fingerprints and verify their identity against the national database.
This biometric verification serves multiple important purposes:
Biometric verification confirms the authenticity of each partner’s identity
It creates a secure digital record of the partners’ involvement in the firm
This helps prevent fraudulent registrations
It also links the firm’s registration directly to verified individuals
After completing the biometric verification, the system generates a digital record that becomes part of your firm’s registration file. You’ll need to reference this verification when submitting your online application through the registrar of firms’ website.
8. Online Apply:
Finally, after fulfilling all the registration requirements mentioned above, partners need to create an account on the registrar of firms’ website. Here, they can apply for the registration of their firm (http://apps.kpitb.gov.pk/eodb/). After the concerned officer reviews and verifies the documents, the partners must appear in person. Then, they must re-sign and thumb-impress the documents. Finally, once they complete these steps, the office issues Form H, officially registering the firm.
Important Note on Registration Costs – Partnership firm
Please note that the total cost for firm registration may be higher than the stated government fees due to additional mandatory expenses, including:
Procurement of stamp paper for the Partnership Deed and Affidavits
Notary attestation fees for each page of the deed and affidavit
Legal consultation and documentation assistance from a lawyer
Applicants are advised to account for these additional costs when budgeting for firm registration to avoid unexpected financial constraints.
